It is time to turn the calendar to December, and as we do so, it is also time to get the Advent Calendars out as well. Sunday, December 3rd will begin the season on Advent. We will begin the Advent Season with Hanging of the Green Service on the 3rd. By the close of the worship service, the Sanctuary will be decorated for the Christmas Season. We will also have communion on that Sunday. Each Sunday in December different families will light the Advent Candle. That is always a special time and I am grateful for all of those that have agreed to read scripture and light a candle.
A group of people have been working to present a special Christmas musical. That presentation will take place on December 17th. Please make an effort to come and hear the story of Christmas through their music. Wednesday, December 20 we will go Christmas Caroling in our neighborhood.
Meet at the church at 5:30 and sing until around 7 PM. Come help us share some Christmas cheer through music with those who live in our neighborhood.
Because Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve are on Sunday, we are changing the schedule, as we usually do when those special days are on Sunday.
The only morning activity will be 10 AM Worship Service on both of those days. I am encouraging you to come as you are because most of you will be having family activities those days. On Christmas Eve there will also be our traditional Candlelight Communion Service at 7 PM. New Year’s Eve we will only have the 10 AM worship. Rev. Claire George will be preaching that morning so that Lee and I can spend time with family and finish off my vacation time for the year.
Regular Sunday and Wednesday schedules will resume the week of January 7. It is my prayer that each of you will have a wonderful Christmas Season. Thank you for the privilege of serving as your pastor.
We wish you a Merry Christmas from the staff at Carlisle Avenue Baptist Church
